Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actor, singer, and model. She was the main female vocalist in Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. The actress and singer was christened Apollonia by Prince became one of many female artists in the '80s that benefited from her connection with the Purple One. Patricia Kotero began her acting and modeling career in Santa Monica California, in the latter part of the 1970s. The first time she appeared was on CHiPS. The female lead of Prince's Purple Rain was her first part in the year 1984. Prince changed the girl's name in this period. She was replaced by Vanity by the female group Vanity 6 who performed in the movie in the role of Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. Kotero's association with Prince came to an end when the duo were at odds over the direction she was taking in her career. Apollonia 6, the organization she was a part of, ended up splitting. The actress appeared in several smaller films, like Purple Rain's sequel Under the Cherry Moon (which she declined) after which she was offered the role of Falcon Crest on the Night-Time Drama Falcon Crest from 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album debuted in 1988. But the R&B/dance songs were not a huge hit by the music buying public. It soon disappeared. During the following decade, she continued to be active in the field of acting (if somewhat off the radar) as well as a couple of television roles, films and an exercise video. Apollonia's album "Stay With Me" came out in 1997. She later returned to school earned a filmmaking degree which led to her forming a production company often working in television for children.
